About Us
The TerrA.ID Research Group is organised around practice-led research that investigates the urgent conditions of our time regarding architecture and built environment. Our goal is to provide society from a wide range of backgrounds with tools for undertaking spatial research and critical analysis into questions of conflict, media, ecology, and territorial studies. The TerrA.ID is home to a practice-based and theoretical research PhD, Master and activist academic relation with society.
Who we are?
TerrA.ID is organised around the urgent conditions of our time. Our goal is to provide practitioners from a wide range of backgrounds with tools for undertaking spatial research and critical analysis into questions of conflict, media, ecology, and Built Environment. TerrA.ID is home to theoretical and practice-based PhD, MA studios and works vertically with Architecture students from 1st to 5th years.
We seek significant impact, inspired and mobilized by science and art. This is our identity. And that's why we don't act alone: we rely on various higher education institutions, museums, municipalities, associations and other entities with a common commitment.
Mission
Creating a resilient, healthy and beautiful world, underpinned by a diverse and inclusive culture and rigorous and innovative research, united by the transformative power of architectural creation in the territory and the natural world.
Multi Locis Action

Because the Earth is our land, we are a multi-geographical research group based between Lisbon, Porto and Portimão and focusing on architectural, territorial, heritage and environmental issues.
How are we funded?
Our core funding comes from academic grants and salaries. We also often receive support for specific projects. All income we receive from the display of our work in the media and in exhibition contexts is reinvested into our research.
