Cláudia Monteiro is graduated in Architecture by the Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade do Porto (FAUP / 1999), with a PhD degree in Spatial Planning by the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (FEUP / 2020). She is a Auxiliar Professor in Universidade Lusófona - Centro Universitário do Porto, in Mestrado Integrado em Arquitetura; and a integrated member of the Centro de Investigação em Arquitetura, Urbanismo e Design (CIAUD / FAUL). Her scientific activity is in the field of Urban Morphology, Urban Planning, and Architecture. She has been contributing to debate around two fundamental themes: the study of different morphological approaches (involving comparative studies and integration of different approaches), and the application of morphological concepts and methods into professional practice. She has published ten papers in international peer-review journals listed in WOS or Scopus, and has been involved in national and international research projects on the relation between research and practice and sustainable urban environments. She has a particular interest in exploring the role of urban form for a sustainable development of cities, through planning practice and architecture. She has a professional experience in architecture and planning over two decades. As Professor she has a special interest in exploring new teaching methods to strengthen the relationships between research and practice.
