Architect, Full Professor and Director of ARQ.ID. Initiated teaching activity in 1982 in the Architecture course of the Escola Superior de Belas Artes do Porto, later integrating the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP), where he taught Architectural Design.

PhD since 1999, with the thesis “Arquitectura e Museus em Portugal — Entre Reinterpretação e Obra Nova” (“Architecture and Museums in Portugal — Between Reinterpretation and New Work”). He has supervised several PhD theses and, until 2010, coordinated the Thesis Project course of the FAUP PhD Program.

From 2010 to 2018, he served as FAUP’s Dean, integrating the Senate of the University of Porto during this period.

In the late 1980s, co-founded the firm CG+LSC, Arquitectos (www.cglsc.com), in partnership with architect Luís Soares Carneiro. The office develops projects ranging from building design to territorial and land-use planning, with notable works in public facilities and urban design. The firm carried out projects in Maputo, Mozambique, including tertiary and housing buildings.

Maintains regular professional and academic collaboration with various institutions (academic, professional, civil society, and public administration).

Member of the Board of Directors of Casa da Arquitectura — Portuguese Centre for Architecture since 2008.

Between 1999 and 2004, served as President of the Northern Regional Section of the Ordem dos Arquitectos. Subsequently, he was President of the General Assembly (2005–2007) and President of the National Congress of Portuguese Architects (2003). Between 2003 and 2007, he was President of the Iberian Docomomo Foundation.
